Mercedes have one of the biggest range of cars on sale and they nearly all get excellent reviews. The experts seem particularly impressed with the build quality and the engines available.
Mercedes is the über-efficient cousin of the German triumvirate of premium car manufacturers. Some claim that their cars lack soul; if true they make up for it with stunning build quality and relentless precision.
They do build some dodgy SUVs (yes, we’re looking at you, G-Class and GL) and their MPV, the R-Class, isn’t much better, but on the whole they produce cars that are amongst the best in their class. The C-, E- and S-Class are at the top of their game and are worth considering if you are looking at their rivals. Just don’t be lured by their mega-MPV, the Viano. It’s a van. Simple as that.
Their tuning arm is AMG, and when you see their badge on the boot you can be assured that they are neck-and-neck with the BMW ‘M’ cars.
There’s a Mercedes for almost every price range, from the A-Class right up to the SLS Roadster.
