We aggregate and summarise the most helpful Nissan Qashqai+2 1.5 dCi reviews from the best publications.

A 1.5-litre turbo diesel might seem a little anaemic for a relatively large SUV-cum-MPV, but testers say the little Renault unit handles the task of moving the car and its cargo along admirably. With 110-horsepower it’s certainly no speed machine and 60mph will take you over 13 seconds, but chances are you’re more likely to be attracted by the 53.3mpg combined economy and lowish £115-a-year tax band.

The strong low-down torque takes hills in its stride and a six-speed manual gearbox makes for relaxed motorway cruising. Indeed, the word ‘relaxed’ appears more than once in the reviews, to give you a good idea of the engine’s capabilities. Just beware that with a few more passengers and their paraphernalia on board, performance will suffer.

That said, I'd still opt for the 2.0-litre diesel: it makes more sense; if not in wallet-friendly terms then definitely in driver friendliness.

Nissan's new, smaller 1.5 dCi engine is a cracker.

A Ford S-Max is so much more useful, practical and fun to drive, and you could buy a base-trim 1.8TDCi for this money.
