The Qashqai 2.0 dCi reviews are generally quite impressive. The conesus from the experts is that this is a responsive and punchy engine that's provides plenty of power. Being an oil burner it returns decent economy figures. However, it is on the pricey side, especially when compared with the cheaper and equally capable engines in the range.

With 150bhp and a health 236lb/ft or torque on offer, getting up to speed and fairly hefty loads don’t upset the Qashqai too much, and the diesel model is notably more fuel efficient than the equivalent 2.0 petrol model (42 mpg vs 37). However, some critics weren’t too fond of the intrusive engine noise at higher speeds.

There are a few critiscisms about the automatic gearbox, with a couple of experts saying it's a little jerky.

It’s a fine engine, and certainly worth looking at if you need a healthy balance of efficiency and all-out pulling power. However, if you don’t regularly need to deal with heavy loads or can’t live without the punch that the flagship diesel offers, then we’re more inclined to recommend the less powerful but more frugal engines in the range.

Offering greater space than a regular hatchback, but more compact and manoeuvrable than an SUV, the Qashqai really is the best of both worlds.
