Vauxhall are as eponymous as Ford and match their range model for model; in the old days you were a Vauxhall man or a Ford man, and nothing has changed much!
They produce a huge range of cars and have something for everyone and, with the exception of the Agila and Antara, they’re all great cars. The Corsa, Astra, and Insignia form the backbone of the range and all are fine vehicles that hold their value well.
The Insignia VXR and VXR8 are very fast sporting saloons that are gaining good reviews, although the experts do point out that other manufacturers might have them out-pointed in some key areas.
Vauxhall now has a 100,000-mile warranty on all of their cars - and there is no time limit either. However, do look into the small print as a few critics have complained it's not quite as attractive as that offered by other manufacturers.
You should be able to get a fairly hefty on a new Vauxhall, so make sure you haggle a bit!
