For most motoring enthusiasts, the Volkswagen Golf GTI is the quintessential hot hatch, and the GTI form is pretty much the top-spec Golf that you could buy, bar the Golf R. To keep things simple, Volkswagen offers the Golf GTI in one variant only, and needless to say, it is decently specced. It gets a styling pack, sports suspension, and a 2.0-litre petrol motor that differentiates it from the regular version of the hatchback.
On the outside, it gets the GTI branding, LED daytime running lights, body coloured door handles, matte-chrome finished rear view mirrors with built in turn signals, and a wash-wipe system for the rear screen. There are also 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome end tips for the twin exhaust exits, a rear diffuser and a roof-mounted spoiler add to the list.
The list of standard features for the interior include climate control, a leather-trimmed multi-functional steering wheel, height adjustable front sport seats, automatic headlamps, rain sensors, and electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors. A Bluetooth-enabled infotainment system, paired with a 3.5-inch TFT screen does the job on the Golf GTI. Apart from the various driver assists (ABS, ESC et al), the GTI also benefits from electronic differential lock, start-stop function, and parking sensors. It also gets front, side, and curtain airbags.
