Peugeot has unveiled a new trim level to go hand in hand with the launch of the new 308 GT.
Dubbed GT Line, it replaces what’s been known as the Feline (pronounced “Fell Een” – c’est Français) and sits between the Allure and the new GT in the 308 range. However it’s not just restricted to the 308 range and will be introduced for other models too.
Buyers of the RCZ in 155hp and 200hp petrol or 163hp diesel versions will be able to specify GT Line. There’s only a smattering of external changes, aimed to move the car visually towards the RCZ R – Xenon headlamps with titanium masks and twin exhaust tail pipes particularly.
Elsewhere the GT Line model is distinguished by red highlights that underpin the GT Line design. There’s red wheel caps, red stitching on the steering wheel, mats, gear lever gaiter, Alcantara leather seats, dashboard, seat belts and door cards.
Go for the 508 GT Line and there’s a number of external changes. Firstly the Peugeot lion moves into the grille as with the 308 GT, and the car gains full LED headlights and foglights. There’s model specific wheels and twin tailpipe finishers, while the SW estate version gets privacy glass and a panoramic sunroof.
There’s more redness in the cabin, with red stitching on the half-leather seats, the mats and the gear lever gaiter, while the seven-inch touchscreen gains the same red-heavy colour scheme adopted by the 308 GT model. Gadgetry includes a reverseing camera, blind spot sensors, keyless entry and starting and colour head-up display.
The 308 GT Line is practically indistinguishable from the 308 GT – which may not please buyers of the latter performance car – with the only obvious external difference being the LED foglights unavailable on the GT itself.
308 GT Line buyers can thus get full LED headlamps, sequential direction indicators, tail lights and foglamps, the black diffuser with integrated exhaust finishers, the sill finishers and the relocated Lion emblem. Even the 18-inch “Diamant” wheels are available, albeit as an optional extra.
There’s more red on the inside as you’d expect, with red stitched half-leather seats, steering wheel, door cards, dash and gear level gaiter and the RedLine-coloured touchscreen. Even the Driver Sport Pack is available, though only on specific engine types. One could forgive 308 GT buyers for feeling a little short changed!
No prices are available yet for the RCZ versions of this trim because they don’t launch until spring 2015, but for 508 the GT Line trim will cost £1,000 over Allure specifications while 308 GT Line buyers will be paying a £1,550 premium – starting at £21,345 for the 1.2 PureTech 130 model.
