Tesla Motors are suing TopGear over apparent false claims that they made over three years ago. They claim that the BBC lied and provided false information during the feature Jeremy Clarkson did about the Tesla Roadster in 2008.
Tesla apparently attempted to contact the BBC many times over the last two years about the lies, but to no avail, so they have reverted to legal action.
The claims are around the fact that TopGear faked certain parts during filming and provided false information about the car. For example, they misrepresented the fact that the Tesla broke down during filming and had to be pushed by hand back to the garage, which Tesla say never happened.
TopGear also suggested that both Roadster models lent to them had other problems, including broken brakes and overheated motors, both apparently not true either.
Everyone knows that TopGear are partial to a bit of over exaggeration, but it will be interesting to see how the BBC responds to these claims. Well keep you updated as to what happens.
