The best cars to lease for less than £200 per month

March 26, 2024 by

These 10 cars are all available through a leasing agreement. This means you’ll hand over an up-front deposit followed by a series of monthly payments, and there will be a limit to the number of miles you can cover per year. Once the contract is up, the car is returned to the leasing company.

If you’re looking to own the car at the end of the agreement then leasing isn’t the way forward for you. For this you’ll want to check out Hire Purchase (HP) or Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) options.

Our list of the top 10 new cars for under (or really really close to!) £200 per month* is:

1) Fiat 500 Hybrid: £168.78 per month

  • Up-front cost: £1,819.01
  • Duration: 36 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

Coming in as the cheapest car on this list, you can have the iconic Fiat 500 for as little as £1,819.01 per month. This little city runaround may have been around for a while now, but it still has plenty going for it beyond the cutesy styling.

The 1.0-litre mild hybrid engine is economical, it’s a doddle to drive in town and it comes with plenty of kit as standard. Just be aware that the back seats and boot are pretty cramped, and it’s not the most refined on the motorway.

2) Peugeot 208: £186.93 per month

  • Up-front cost: £1,982.36
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

Small hatchbacks don’t get much more stylish than the Peugeot 208, and it’s more than just a pretty face. The interior is equally striking, although the infotainment system isn’t the best and the rear legroom is a bit tight. And it’s worth noting this particularly hot deal is on the pre-facelift car, rather than the updated one coming through to showrooms now.

But, at least you have plenty of kit as standard. You can have the Allure Premium for £186.93 per month, and this car comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 16-inch alloy wheels and air conditioning.

3) GWM Ora 03: £189.31 per month

  • Up-front cost: £2,063.81
  • Duration: 36 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

The Ora 03 is one of the cheapest new EVs on the market, and it certainly stands out from the crowd thanks to its funky styling. It may not have the largest boot, and the range isn’t as good as some alternatives, but the standard equipment makes up for these shortcomings.

This lease deal is for the entry-level Pure+ model, and it comes with a 48kWh battery with 193 miles of range. You also get a 360-degree camera system, leatherette seats, adaptive cruise control and two 10.3-inch screens inside.

4) Hyundai i10: £151.82 per month

  • Up-front cost: £1,565.38
  • Duration: 36 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

If you spend the majority of your time driving in busy urban traffic, then the Hyundai i10 is a great car for the job. £151.82 per month gets you the 1.0-litre petrol model which, while it offers adequate power around town, can start to feel out of its depth on the motorway.

Look past the sluggish engine though and this is a tempting city car. The Advance model may be the entry-level version, but you still get 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

5) Renault Clio: £162.02 per month

  • Up-front cost: £1,818.22
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

There are much larger cars out there which could learn a thing or two from the Renault Clio. This small hatchback has a properly posh cabin and a massive boot for its size. It may not be the most spacious in the rear, but it compensates for this with the head-turning looks.

Your £162 per month gets you the Techno model, and it’s fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels, interior ambient lighting, a reversing camera, a digital driver’s display and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

6) Vauxhall Corsa: £173.99 per month

  • Up-front cost: £1,865.90
  • Duration: 36 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

The Vauxhall Corsa offers buyers some big car tech for small car money. It’s also a smart-looking thing, and it’s comfortable to drive as well. For just over £170 per month, the Corsa represents great value for money.

It may not be the most spacious in the rear, and the infotainment system isn’t the most intuitive either. To make up for this, the Ultimate model gets a heated steering wheel, heated seats, LED Matrix headlights and a rear-view camera.

7) Nissan Juke: £191.95 per month

  • Up-front cost: £1,976.57
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

The Nissan Juke is a great car for those who like to stand out from the crowd, and it’s got more than just whacky styling going for it. It’s also loaded with safety tech, and it represents great value for money.

It may be fairly cramped in the back, and it’s not the most comfortable small SUV out there, but for most people the tempting low price will be enough to earn the Juke a spot on their driveway.

8) Renault Captur: £177.58 per month

  • Up-front cost: 1,958.18
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

If it’s cavernous practicality in a small shell you’re after, check out the Renault Captur. It’s small enough for slotting through gaps in traffic, but it has a boot big enough to swallow up all the family’s clobber.

This Techno model also comes with all the kit you’ll need. You get 18-inch alloy wheels, half-leather seats, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

9) Nissan Qashqai: £182.22 per month

  • Up-front cost: £1,938.82
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

The Nissan Qashqai has a massive boot, loads of interior space and it’s a really comfortable car to drive. Just keep in mind that the infotainment system does feel a bit dated.

This Acenta Premium model does come fully loaded with technology. You get an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power folding mirrors, a reversing camera, rain sensing wipers, LED lights and adaptive cruise control.

10) Peugeot 2008: £173.08 per month

  • Up-front cost: £1,851.72
  • Duration: 24 months
  • Mileage limit: 5,000 per year

Rounding up this list we have a stylish small SUV. The Peugeot 2008 is a great car for those who want a raised driving position, but still want something small enough to slot through gaps in traffic.

It may be a bit cramped in the back, but the 2008 is comfortable and cheap to run, as well as having one of the coolest cabins in its class.
