New cars offered with fixed price servicing

July 27, 2015 by

Many car makers will offer you the option of a fixed price service plan when you buy your car. This means there won’t be any nasty surprises when you service it because you’ve already paid for the plan, shielding you from potentially massive bills.

There are other benefits too – having a full manufacturer service history can potentially improve the resale value of your car and the peace of mind offered by simply turning up to a service in the knowledge it won’t cost any more than you expect.

Below are the best servicing plans offered by car manufacturers. Don’t forget, if you’re taken with any of these options, check out our car configurator to see how much you could save with carwow.

BMW

The BMW Service Inclusive package is a five year deal which covers the price of all services within that time. Available on all models except the 7 Series and high-performance ‘M’ models, the service is priced from £425 for the 1 Series, 2 Series and X1, with prices climbing (marginally) higher further up the range.

For extra protection, BMW offers Service Inclusive Plus, which also covers consumable items like brake pads, discs, and windscreen wipers. Given the cost of these items and the price of labour to replace them, this jumps the price of the plan significantly – these plans typically costs upwards of £1,380. Inclusive Plus may still be worth your while though, especially if you drive higher mileages.

Citroen

Available on all new Citroens, the fixed price service pack costs from £400, which can be paid over 36 months at a rate of £11.11 per month. Citroen also offers the option for buyers to included the car’s MOT in the price.

Included in the cost of plan is a health check (where Citroen mechanics will inspect suspension and braking components to ensure everything is in good order) and a collection and delivery service, so there’s no need to swing by the dealership. The agreement is based on drivers not exceeding 35,000 miles within a three year period.

Ford

The Ford Protect Premium plan spans either two or three years according to the buyer’s taste. The usual service items plus labour are included in the price and, like some household energy plans, remains fixed so undercuts rising parts cost brought about by inflation.

Typical prices are £340 for two year plans on the Fiesta or B-Max, or £570 for a three year plan on the Focus or C-Max. New Fords include a year’s free breakdown cover and, depending on the duration of service plan you choose, an extra year or two will be added to the cover. If any repair work covered by the warranty takes longer than 24 hours, then you will be provided with a free courtesy car.

Mini

Mini was the first in the UK to offer a multiple services for one fixed price and, to this day, its prices are among the most competitive. For £349, the TLC package will cover you for five years or 50,000 miles of services.

All the typical service items are covered – oil, spark plugs and filters are included, along with labour. Like the other plans here, all services are conducted using only genuine manufacturer-approved parts.

Skoda

The new car fixed-price service plan from Skoda is available from £479, or £19.96 a month paid over 24 months. The plan covers any new Skoda for up to 30,000 miles or three years – whichever comes first.

For that price, three services are included, where all the necessary fluids and filters are replaced, including the brake fluid at the third service.

Vauxhall

Vauxhall’s service plans cost from £15 per month, and vary depending on the model in question. On top of the usual service checks and processes, Vauxhall says it will double check fluid levels, topping them up where necessary, as well as checking tyre pressures each time your car visits the garage.

A sample quote states that a Corsa 1.2-litre petrol would cost £18.60 per month for 27 months, on the basis that the driver covered fewer than 8,000 miles per year. An Astra 1.7 diesel, covering the same mileage, would cost £22.33 per month.

Volkswagen

The Volkswagen new car fixed price service plan costs from £15.99 per month. The plan is available for for two, three or four year durations, making the three year plan come to a total price of £383.76

This, Volkswagen says, will cover all routine servicing needs according to each car’s recommended service schedule. Wear and tear items (like brakes and tyres) will come at an additional cost. All models in the Volkswagen range – apart from the Touareg SUV – are available with the plan.
