Range Rover has launched a special version of its popular Evoque crossover. Dubbed the Ember, this model gets Santorini Black bodywork with a contrasting Firenze Red roof and trim elements. It costs from £47,200 and will only be available to order for three months in summer 2016 with deliveries expected in September.
In addition to the eye-catching paint scheme, the firm has fitted a unique black and silver ‘Evoque’ badge and black ‘Range Rover’ lettering on the bonnet. Continuing the black theme are 20-inch alloy wheels, exhaust tips, grille and darkened head and taillights.

Not to be outdone, the inside features black leather seats with contrasting red stitching, black and red floor mats, and gloss black trim pieces. It’s the screen in the centre of the dashboard, however, that gets the most involved upgrades.
Land Rover’s range-topping InControl Touch Pro infotainment system gets an upgrade for 2017 Evoque models. This latest version features a 10.2-inch touchscreen with 1,280×542-pixel resolution – an 80 per cent improvement over the standard eight-inch screen.
Owners can use an InControl smartphone app to set sat-nav destinations in advance and it can even help when walking from their car to their destination. If you’re running late, it can even send automated updates via text messages to contacts in your phonebook. This joins 3D mapping and a bird’s eye camera mode on the enhanced system.
The new model also gets the firm’s ‘Low Traction Launch’ technology that helps the car pull away smoothly on tricky and slippery surfaces. It’s engaged manually on the dashboard and precisely limits the amount of torque going to the front wheels to prevent wheel spin.
Other upgrades across the range include 12-way electrically adjustable seats and high beam assistance added to SE Tech models. HSE Dynamic models and above get the upgraded InControl Touch Pro infotainment system, onboard WiFi, InControl apps and All Terrain Progress Control to help over tricky surfaces.
Finally, the brand has introduced a Graphite Design pack for Autobiography models that includes satin grey 20-inch alloy wheels, a black grille with grey surround, a black contrasting roof and other black exterior trim pieces. This pack costs £2,125 for UK buyers.
