2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake price and release date
The 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake will have a £40,000 price tag. However, this will rise past £45,000 if you go for optional extras such as autonomous driving aids and an upgraded infotainment system. The car will go on sale in June.
2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake styling
The styling of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake adds a number of sporty elements to the solid, good-looking foundation that is the standard CLA Shooting Brake. So, along with a swept roofline and frameless doors, you get new fixtures like 18-inch alloy wheels, a pair of large exhaust pipes and a stealthy bodykit.
2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake performance
Until the A45 version rears its head in a year’s time, the 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake is the fastest CLA Shooting Brake that you can buy. It gets from 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds – an exact match to the car’s Volkswagen Golf R Estate alternative. Unlike the Volkswagen, though, the Mercedes gets a seven-speed, twin-clutch gearbox as standard and uses an electro-mechanical all-wheel-drive setup, rather than an electro-hydraulic one. As a result, the Mercedes can divert power to the rear wheels quicker than a Golf R, improving grip.
Mercedes claims the 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake will return 38mpg. Even when you consider that, in reality, the overall fuel economy will actually drop closer to 30mpg, this remains a perfectly sensible figure for something so sporty.
2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake specs
When compared with the regular Mercedes CLA, the 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake has been given a number of alterations under the skin. The chassis has been reinforced and the brakes have been updated, so the car can handle the drastically increased performance.
There will be a number of options available for the 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake. These include an AMG Night Package, which adds black exterior touches, and an Aerodynamic Package that provides aggressive-looking front and rear spoilers. You will also be able to choose from three different types of sports seat, which will hug your body in increasingly tight increments.
2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake interior and infotainment
Inside the 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake, you will find the same MBUX infotainment system as you get in the Mercedes A-Class. This setup has two screens placed perfectly side-by-side. One functions as the driver’s display, while the other acts as the central touchscreen, used for controlling features like the car’s amazing augmented reality sat-nav, the radio and your phone. The CLA 35’s infotainment also has a few geeky, AMG-exclusive add-ons. These include a race timer and separate readouts for horsepower, torque, and engine and oil temperatures.
Elsewhere, the interior retains good-looking touches such as turbine-style air vents, while also adding Artico (man-made) leather and Dinamica seats as standard. Real leather will be an option, albeit quite an expensive one.
The cabin of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake is roomy and practical, too. Rear-seat head-, shoulder- and legroom has been upped and, further back, the boot has a 505-litre capacity – big enough for a set of suitcases. This is nearly 50 percent more space than you would get in the standard A-Class hatchback.
