The 2016 SsangYong Korando is now available with a newly developed 2.2-litre diesel engine aimed at boosting the fortunes of the somewhat un-loved crossover. The new motor has been designed to comply with new Euro 6 emissions regulations and be more efficient than before.
The new unit offers nearly 20 per cent more power, improved fuel economy (up from 47.1mpg to a 53.3mpg) and reduced CO2 emissions (down from 147g/km to 139g/km) compared to the 2.0-litre unit that it replaces.

Thanks to the new engine and being priced from just £15,995 for the two-wheel drive manual version, the new Korando should make a cheap but well equipped and capable towing vehicle. The maximum capacity is two tonnes, making this simple SUV a good choice for those who share the road with a trailer on a regular basis.
Visual changes to the 2016 Korando are limited to clear indicators, a revised black grille and new chrome detailing. Considering the current model was penned by the same designer as the Lancia Stratos Zero concept, we would have been surprised by more comprehensive alterations.
Inside, drivers can expect to find the same well appointed interior of the previous model with the added bonus of a stereo with Bluetooth and MP3 compatibility fitted as standard.
A fully kitted out Korando is hardly going to break the bank at £22,495 and comes equipped with heated front and rear leather seats, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that controls the stereo, a TomTom sat-nav and new 18-inch alloy wheels at no extra cost.
Should these improved features convince you that this is the car for you, SsangYong offers peace of mind with an impressive five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
