Fiat’s high performance division – Abarth – has revealed the ultimate version of its 500-based hot hatch. Called the Abarth 500 Biposto Record, it gets the best equipment the company can offer and a unique yellow paint finish.
Thanks to its lightweight construction and special aluminium bonnet, the car only weighs 997kg. This gives it a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 5.2kg per horsepower. Fitted with the Biposto’s 190hp version of the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, it hits 62mph from rest in an equally class-leading 5.9 seconds.
Other performance enhancements include Sabelt carbon fibre seats with race harnesses, OZ Racing alloy wheels, Brembo brakes and an Akrapovic exhaust system. To help put the power to the road, the Biposto Record also gets a mechanical limited slip differential.
The car is available to order now costing from £36,610 – that’s a small fortune for a Fiat 500 but the Biposto Record’s exclusivity makes up for that. It’s limited to just 133 models – after the number of records held by Abarth – and each gets its own numbered plaque. All models get the unique Modena Yellow paint scheme.
