Toyota Auris Touring Sports Pricing & Specification

Toyota recently announced the new Auris Touring Sports, available with petrol and diesel engines, and for the first time with an estate car in this class, a hybrid version.

We can now bring you pricing and specification for the new British-built estate, before it's unveiled at next week's Geneva Motor Show.

Auris Touring Sports models will kick off at 15,595, for a 1.33 petrol model in Active trim. A 1.4 D-4D diesel model is also available at this level, for 16,945.

Active trim gets you roof rails, single-zone air conditioning, CD and USB radio, a luggage net, seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control and Hill Start Assist control. 15-inch steel wheels and a class-leading 530-litre boot are also standard.

Next up is the Icon model, the first trim level at which you can specify the hybrid model. Pricing starts at 18,245 for the 1.33 petrol, while the hybrid costs 21,095. Fog lamps, a dual-level boot floor, a Toyota Touch infotainment touchscreen, DAB radio and a rear-view camera are all introduced at this level. 16-inch alloy wheels are standard, while the Hybrid gets smaller 15-inch alloys.

Spend a little more still and you can get your hands on the Sport models, only available with the 1.4 D-4D engine, and a 1.6 Valvematic petrol with manual or automatic transmission options. The 1.6 manual costs 19,345. It's a grand extra to opt for the auto, or the diesel.

A subtle bodykit is standard, as is darkened glass. Inside you get sport front seats, while 17-inch alloys also make the grade (16-inch on the diesel).

Topping the range is Excel trim, which runs from 20,345 for the 1.6 manual to 22,845 for the hybrid. 17-inch alloys are standard (16 again on D-4D models), as are automatic wipers and lights, power fold mirrors, dual-zone climate control, smart entry and start, Intelligent Park Assist and cruise control.

A range of options is also available for most trim lines, while Excel buyers can specify a panoramic glass roof for 550. Touch and Go satnav is available for 650 on Icon, Sport and Excel lines.

Conclusion

The Auris Touring Sports' main appeal will be its large boot and the option of a hybrid model. At 15,595 for the entry-level 1.33 Active, it also undercuts other rivals in the class on price - even value models like the Hyundai i40 Tourer. For those who need the space but not the more powerful engine options of some rivals, the Auris Touring Sports should prove a worthy choice.
