Citroen have just revealed a new crossover called the C4 Aircross. We take a look at it, see what its offering and debate why they havent used their new DS sub-brand for it.
The C4 Aircross uses a lot of visual designs from their Hypnos concept, with the trademark wide front grille and sculpted bonnet contours. The deept-cut LED running lights are almost identical to those from the DS3.
Its a fairly compact car, at 4.34m long, 1.8m wide and 1.63m high. Inside its a 5 seater, no photos of the interior have been released yet though.
Itll be available with a clever four-wheel drive transmission system that will allow the driver to select between 2WD mode, 4WD or Lock (which gives the most traction).
From launch there will be a choice of three engines. A petrol 1.6i will only be available as a 2WD and gives 115PS. A diesel 1.6 HDi will give 110PS and a more powerful 1.8 HDi will have 150PS.No word yet on emissions of performance stats.
The Citroen C4 Aircross will go on sale in mid-2012.
We like the butch and aggressive styling of the C4 Aircross, but cant help wonder why they didnt call it the DS4 Aircross. Citroen have recently launched their new sub-brand and from the looks alone this looks like it should be branded as a DS car. Perhaps in the future a sportier DS version will be launched.
