Land Rover Discovery 4 Luxury Edition - Full Details

Who says theres a worldwide recession? Sales of ultra-expensive SUVs are blooming, with a new Mercedes GL on the horizon as well as the Bentley SUV (you didnt believe them when they said that it is just a concept car, did you?).

Not to be left out, Land Rover has announced an even more luxurious and highly-specified limited edition Discovery 4, the, er, HSE Luxury Special Edition.
No prizes for its unoriginal name then, but it does look rather nice

You can have any colour you like as long as you want Santorini Black. Its black, and its exclusive, and it looks terrific, helped by silver accents on the roof rails, door mirrors, vents, and grille.

Its also got some additional silver trim along the sides and on the tailgate, as well as a bumper protection strip and 20-inch alloy wheels.

The interior can be trimmed in either Ebony or Ivory leather, with an extended Windsor Leather Pack covering the top of the dashboard, instrument binnacle, door tops, armrests and door pulls. Its finished off with Dark Zebrano veneer trim and the twist pile carpet mats that are thick enough to lose your pet rabbit in.

There is also an 825W Harman/Kardon audio system, rear TV screens, wireless headphones, and a cooler box. Oh, and tinted privacy glass in the back to stop the poor people looking at your kids.

The luxo-Disco is powered by the venerable SDV6 engine, which means that itll do 62mph in 8.8 seconds, hit a top speed of 112mph, and slurp diesel at the rate of one gallon for every 30-or so miles covered.

Worth knowing

The headphones that are supplied as part of the rear TV screens are wireless and give a full home cinema effect. Coupled to the high-end Harman/Kardon stereo theyll probably sound better than your domestic audio system.
Price: Prices start at 56,995 OTR.
Available from:July 2012.

The Land Rover Discovery is already one of the most if not the most versatile vehicles on the road today, and these changes further consolidate its position as the most desirable SUV in the world.
Rivals on paper include the Volvo XC90 and BMW X5, but the truth is that the Disco is peerless.
