Lamborghini have just unveiled photos and stats for their new supercar, the Aventador LP700-4. Theres a lot of clever technology underneath that extraordinary exterior…
The Aventador has a 6.5 litre V12 which pumps out 700hp, giving it a top speed of 217mph. The 0-60 time is an astonishing 2.9 seconds.
Part of the reason for these amazing stats is the innovative carbon-fibre monocoque it boasts, one solid piece forms the entire interior shell. Like the Murcielago and Gallardo, the Aventador has permanent all wheel drive.
The name Aventador, like a lot of previous Lamborghinis, comes from a particularly courageous bull. Another feature that carries over from Lamborghinis from old are the scissor doors, something many were disappointed that the Gallardo didnt have.
The instrument panel for the Aventador features a TFT-LCD screen, rather than conventional dials. Another screen is used for the sat-nav and sound system.
Its no small car, at 4.78 metres long and 2.26 metres wide (including wing mirrors). For comparison, thats wider than a Range Rover and just 20cm shorter.
Not that many buyers would really care, but the CO2 output is 398g/km and itll get 13.2 mpg. It goes on sale this summer, priced at 201,900.
Lots of people thought Lamborghini would go soft when it was bought by Audi. The Aventador is further proof that the magic and passion hasnt been lost.
The Aventador has everything a supercar should have. Stunning styling, incredible power and innovative technology. We love it already!
