MINI have announced a new engine that will be available on all the MINI cars on sale, we predict itll be a popular engine for any of you who are thinking of buying a MINI.
The MINI Cooper SD will be the most powerful diesel engine available, and will sit above the existing One D and Cooper D. The SD will have a turbocharged 2.0 litre engine producing 143bhp and will feature stop/start technology as standard.
The Cooper SD engine will be an option in the Hatchback, Convertible, Clubman and Countryman. Due to the varying sizes and weights of the different types of MINI, the stats for performance and economy will be different, so weve outlined them for you below.
Cooper SD Hatchback: 0-60 in 8.1 seconds, 65.7mpg, 114g/km CO2, 30 road tax a year
Cooper SD Convertible: 0-60 in 8.7 seconds, 62.8 mpg, 118g/km CO2, 30 road tax a year
Cooper SD Clubman: 0-60 in 8.6 seconds, 64.2 mpg, 115g/km CO2, 30 road tax a year
Cooper SD Countryman: 0-60 in 9.3 seconds, 51.1 mpg, 122 g/km CO2, 90 road tax a year
The Cooper SD has the same air intake in the bonnet as the Cooper S and also has twin exhausts at the back.
MINI have also announced a new set of options called MINI Yours, which basically consists of a range of new paint colours and interior trims that havent been available before. We look forward to seeing what wacky combinations people come up with!
The Cooper SD will undoubtedly be a popular option for fans of the brand. Its a powerful engine that wont cost a lot in fuel bills or road tax. Prices havent yet been announced, but wed expect it to be similar to that of the Cooper S.
