2012 Renault Megane Facelift - What's Different?

For 2012 Renault have given the entire Megane range a facelift and some updated engines.

Its evolution rather than revolution on the outside, with detail changes to ensure the Megane keeps its fresh, quirky looks. As is becoming the norm these days, the front end gains some LED daytime running lights, and the bumper has been refreshed with gloss black accents and chrome details on the headlights.

GT-Line models get special boomerang-shape LED lights. An entirely new range of wheels and two new colours - Azzurro Blue and Arctic White - complete the exterior changes.

Interior and Technology

Renault has been keen to raise quality levels, and the interior changes reflect this. Two-tone leather has hit the options list. Sporty GT-Line Meganes get a sports steering wheel, red stitching throughout the interior, and even some little details cribbed from RenaultSport models to more closely tie in that model line.

As part of Renaults Visio System, a little camera on the back of the rear view mirror allows automatic dip and high-beam switching at night, and lane-departure warning.
A parking camera should help prevent bumps, and a quality sensor in the climate control system can switch on the air-recycling mode when required.

At only 1.2 litres, the new 1.2 TCE engine doesnt sound that exciting. Thats until you realise its the most powerful 1.2 in production, and with direct injection and a turbocharger, it produces 115bhp. It replaces the standard 1.6 and with stop-start, manages an average of 53.3mpg.

Two new diesels have been added too, an 80.7mpg 1.5 dCi with stop-start technology which gets free road tax, and a 130bhp 1.6 dCi that reaches over 70mpg on average.

Thanks to Renault UKs cost-cutting, the Megane has become more important than ever, and the updates should ensure it keeps selling until an entirely new model arrives.
The changes certainly improve the cars styling and Renault will be hoping its attention paid to quality will help bring in a few more sales. Renault UK certainly needs them.
