Joining the redesigned Leon line-up is this estate version, slotting in nicely to Seat's current naming regimen of giving its 5-door dog carriers the "ST" appellation.
The Leon ST touts an extra 50% load space over the regular 5-door Leon, with its 587 litres even outstripping some big, traditional load-luggers - expanding up to 1470 with the rear seats folded. What's more, they fold flat with a single latch in the boot itself and, with a flush load lip, makes large or bulky loads that little bit more manageable.
There's little surprise in the trim level line-up, if you're already familiar with the Leon and Leon SC models. The relatively spartan "S" grade comes with the basic gadgets one would expect, including air conditioning and Bluetooth connectivity, while the "SE" - at an 1,100 premium over the S - sports 16 alloys and front foglights. The top spec FR trim includes dual zone aircon, sports suspension, front and rear parking sensors, privacy glass and LED taillights for another 1,500.
The engine range is the same as in the existing Leon hatch too. There are 1.2 (105hp), 1.4 (140hp) and 1.8 (180hp) versions of the TSI petrol engine and 1.6 and 2.0 TDI diesel engines, each available in two states of tune - 105hp or 110hp for the 1.6 TDI and 150hp or 184hp for the 2.0. There's 5 and 6 speed manuals and 6 and 7 speed automatic gearboxes available too.

The new Leon range has been well received thus far and if the trend set by the Ibiza ST continues, this model should be the best of the field.
It's certainly hard to argue with the amount of space you get for your money and remember, underneath that slightly staid body lays the Volkswagen MQB platform - the same as found underneath the VW Golf, Audi A3 and Skoda Octavia, only for far less cash.
