The least-surprising news of the week (and, quite possibly, the briefest) is that Volkswagen has added two extra doors to its award-winning up! city car; everything else stays the same, (which is good) it just gets two more doors!
Theres no word yet on exact dimensions, but most sources reckon it wont be much longer at all than the current 3-door.
Rumours are that there will be a slight increase in price for the privelege of the extra two doors. Most reckon at most it will cost 500 more.
The new car is expected to account for around half of all up! sales and it will be available with the same engines too, including a 59bhp BlueMotion version with sub-100g/km CO2 emissions.
Deliveries will start in late summer or early autumn and the price hasnt been announced yet, although the smart money will be on a premium of 400 over the three-door model, so prices should start at about 8,400.
Oh, and five-door versions of the SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo, the VW up!s siblings, will go on sale at around the same time too.
Well have to wait for more information, such as exact dimensions and prices, before giving our full verdict. But so far, were a little disappointed. The 3-Door up! has a smart and slightly characterful look, but this 5-Door doesnt have the same visual appeal, it looks too like every other city car.
