Jaguar-Land Rover’s skunkworks division, Special Vehicle Operations, is enhancing the Jaguar F-Pace SUV to deliver a sportier version with around 550hp. The specialised team has already added the F-Type SVR and Range Rover Sport SVR to the brand’s ranks with more high performance models expected in the future. Spy shots courtesy of Autoevolution give us our best idea of what the new model could look like.

These shots show the new model testing at the Nurburgring, the BMW X5M competitor will need to cope with demands of a circuit and fast-road driving. While F-Paces rarely go to the track, stiffer suspension, beefier brakes and recalibrated traction and stability controls will be needed to contain the supercharged 5.0-litre V8, thought to make as much as 567hp and 516lb ft of torque.
The extra power will see the SVR derivative top the F-Pace range, displacing the current F-Pace S which charges to 62mph from a standstill in 5.5 seconds. It won’t match the F-Type SVR’s sub-four-second sprint due to its extra weight but it certainly won’t be a slouch.
The four-wheel drive F-Pace SVR will go up against mid and large SUVs – firmly in the F-Pace SVR’s sights will be Porsche’s Macan Turbo and Cayenne Turbo, sitting between the two in terms of size and price.
This camouflaged pre-production model is unlikely to resemble the finished product with the car still more than a year away from release. A few go-faster looking bits have been added though including a new front bumper with gaping air intakes either side of the number plate feeding more air to the bigger engine.
Otherwise, exterior changes have been kept to a minimum for the moment. Its probable the production ready car will be adorned with a brawnier bodykit and SVR badging to shout about its extra performance.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but the near £60,000 difference between the basic F-Type coupe and SVR edition is an indication of how the F-Pace SVR will be priced. The normal model costs from £35,020 so expect the F-Pace SVR to approach £100,000 when it lands on UK roads in 2018.
