Mazda has released details of the MX-5 Sport Recaro – the first limited edition since the launch of the fourth-gen model in 2015. Upgrades to both the exterior and interior should help tempt potential buyers away from competitors such as the BMW Z4 and Audi TT Roadster, but what exactly has Mazda changed?
If you’re after a simple sports car, our Mazda MX-5 configurator can help you find your perfect car at a great price. Alternatively, read our cheap convertible sports cars article to check out the competition.
Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro exterior modifications
The Sport Recaro limited edition is available in two metallic paint finishes – buyers can choose from either Soul Red or Ceramic White. The manually operated black fabric roof from the standard model remains unchanged.
A new aerodynamic package including a new front splitter, widened sills and a rear spoiler, has been fitted to the limited edition MX-5. These parts are offered in black to compliment the new piano black door mirror caps and stand out against the bright metallic paintwork.
New 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are fitted as standard and include an MX-5 logo engraved on the rim.
Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro interior upgrades
The new model is named after Recaro, the legendary manufacturer of racing and high performance car seats. The standard MX-5 already gets Recaro seats, but the new limited edition model features Alcantara upholstery on the seat-backs and cushions.
Red detailing on the dashboard, gear lever, and handbrake also feature and unique floor mats and alloy pedals complete the Recaro themed interior.
Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro engines
The Sport Recaro model is based on the 2.0-litre Sport Nav MX-5 and retains all the standard equipment including sat-nav, Bluetooth connectivity, climate control, LED headlights and rear parking sensors.
Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro price
The new Mazda MX-5 Sport Recaro is available to order now for £24,295 – £1,000 more than the most expensive standard model. If you don’t manage to snap up one of the 600 which are being built, don’t worry – Mazda has a history of offering numerous special edition MX-5s, so there will certainly be more to come in the future.
