Renault Twingo gets new EDC automatic gearbox

The Renault Twingo should feel even more at home in the city thanks to a more efficient automatic gearbox. The new unit will help it compete against cars such as the Fiat 500, Volkswagen Up and Toyota Aygo.

The 0.9-litre turbocharged engine in the Twingo can now be specified with an ‘EDC’ twin-clutch gearbox, as fitted to other models in the Renault range, for an additional £900. The new gearbox can be specified with Renault’s ‘ECO’ function to help reduce fuel consumption by as much as 10 per cent.

Drivers can override the automatic function and take control of shifts using the ‘up’ and ‘down’ buttons on the gearstick to change gear in less than a third of a second.

New six-spoke, 15-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard to the Twingo in Dynamique trim, which now offers customers the option of dark-tinted rear windows.
