Volkswagen launches two special edition Up! models

Volkswagen has introduced two new trim levels to the Up! city car range, keeping up with the customisation options available for the likes of the Renault Twingo and Peugeot 108.

Known as the Street Up! (shown above) and Club Up! (shown below), the new models add numerous cosmetic upgrades to the top-spec High Up! model. As the names suggest, the Street intends to inject some urban style – presumably this involves wearing your trousers around your ankles – to the range, while the Club leans towards a more sophisticated look. Available in either three- or five-door bodystyles, both versions are powered by the 75hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, returning a claimed 60.1mpg.

What’s new?

As well as the front fog lights, heated front seats and a portable infotainment device (think sat-nav) of the High Up!, the Street gains twin racing stripes, tinted windows, body coloured bumpers and a unique 16-inch alloy wheel design. The Street is available with black, silver or white paint finishes, and contrasting silver door mirrors (or black if the rest of the car is silver). Inside, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, new cloth upholstery, black roof lining and snazzy scuff plates with a yellow stripe round off the upgrades.

Like the Street, the Club adds tinted windows and the contrasting silver door mirrors, but features a different 16-inch alloy wheel design, unique ‘Club” badging, and a ‘Tartan Tonic’ cloth trim on the seats. Buyers can opt for either black or ‘Blueberry metallic’ paint finishes – the latter is only available with the Club Up!.

How much will they cost?

Despite the extra goodies on offer, Volkswagen asks for only £610 on top of the price of the High Up! That means that prices for both start at £11,995 for the three door, with five door models costing an additional £375. They’ll go on sale imminently.

We at carwow are big fans of the Up!, and you can check out our aggregated review here.
