This is the Volkswagen Scirocco GTS – a new special edition that not only looks markedly different from the standard car, but has a bit of extra power too.
Based on the range-topping R-Line model, the 2.0-litre petrol engine now produces 217hp, making this the second most powerful engine in the range – sitting below the flagship Scirocco R’s 276hp.
Available with both manual and DSG automatic transmissions, this engine accelerates the Scirocco from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds. Top speed for the manual is 153mph, and 152mph for the auto.
Despite the extra power, fuel economy matches the lower-powered 178hp version of the 2.0-litre engine – the GTS is claimed to get 46.3mpg with the manual, and 44.1mpg for the DSG.
Those stripes are optional
The Scirocco GTS wears a new exterior bodykit along with black door-mirror casings, tinted rear windows, red brake calipers and GTS badging on the front grille and rear tailgate. Urano Grey comes as standard but Flash Red, Pure White, Oryx White, indium Grey and Deep Black available as alternatives. Each paint colour will also come with its own colour-coordinated set of decal stripes running over the bonnet, roof and tailgate, although you can order it without if you like.
The interior adds to the R-Line model with some GTS logos onto the standard leather seats, chrome door-sill protectors, and the golf ball-design gear knob. Flashes of red can be found elsewhere inside with red stitching on the seats, carpets and steering wheel. Piano black inserts on the dash, centre console and steering wheel inserts complete the exclusive look.
The Scirocco GTS is available to order now and costs from £28,195. See how much you can save off the list price with our Scirocco deals page.
