Skoda has announced details of a new Monte Carlo edition of its venerable Yeti crossover, which is a carwow favourite. It moves the model in line with the Fabia and Octavia Monte Carlo, and adds a bit of extra style to the Yeti’s functional form. It is priced from £24,390.
The new trim is based on the original SE specification on the Skoda Yeti, so is well equipped already. Monte Carlo spec adds a signature black roof, and gloss black door mirrors and spoiler detailing. It works well and gives the Yeti an extra boost of elegance. It also adds a black rear diffuser, and 17-inch ‘Origami style’ alloy wheels. It also comes with Xenon headlamps with cornering function – so the lights point where the steering wheel is, helping you see around corners at night.
The Yeti also receives some nice interior touches, namely a three-spoke leather multi-function ‘sports’ steering wheel, sports seats with a different upholstery design to normal, and exclusive mats and door sills. The Monte Carlo is only available with the proven 2.0-litre 170hp diesel engine in four-wheel drive form, which has a great turn of pace, getting the crossover from 0-62 in 8.4 seconds. It is also capable of almost 50mpg, making it the pick of the range.
The Skoda is still one of the best all-round crossovers on sale, and the Monte Carlo spec adds some desirability that only helps that. It’s impressively capable off-road too, but don’t scratch those nice black alloys!
