Carwow refer-a-friend scheme terms and conditions

Be a part of our new Carwow refer-a-friend scheme and get a £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card each when your friend sells their car with us.

How can I refer my friends to Carwow?

  • Share your unique referral link with friends via email, SMS, WhatsApp or Facebook.
  • For every friend you refer who completes the sale* of their car with Carwow using your unique referral link, both you and that friend will each receive a £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card.
  • To start referring friends, go to our refer-a-friend page here and enter your details and you and your friends can start earning rewards.
  • To be eligible for the reward, your friend must not have been referred by someone else or sold their vehicle with Carwow in the last 12 months.

Are there any exclusions or restrictions?

  • You will only receive your £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card if your friend completes the sale of their car on Carwow using your unique referral link within 3 months of joining the referral program (i.e. within 3 months of entering their email using the unique referral link).
  • Your friend must have a car that is eligible to be sold via our online daily auctions to our nationwide network of dealers** to receive their £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card.
  • Carwow will indicate eligibility for our dealer network** when any customer values their car. Eligibility is entirely at Carwow’s discretion. Cars not sold on our dealer network can be sold via our car buying partners The Car Buying Group, We Want Any Car or Money 4 Your Motors. However, if your friend’s car is sold through these other companies and not in an auction i.e. if they click to discuss an offer from one of these instant offer groups (which will be visibly marked in the product), you and your friend will not be eligible for the £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card).
  • To be eligible, your friend must visit the Carwow website via your unique referral link. We will not be able to track your referral if your friend has not used your unique referral link to sign up to sell their car.
  • If your friend has not clicked through via your referral link and has completed the sale of their car, or is already in the process of selling their car with Carwow, we cannot retrospectively offer the reward or include the customer in the refer a friend scheme, in these instances.
  • If your friend has completed the sale of a car with Carwow within the last twelve months, they will not be eligible for the £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card by selling another car. Only customers who have not sold a car with Carwow within the last twelve months are eligible.
  • To prevent promotion abuse, MentionMe has a variety of gaming controls in place.
  • Carwow customers can provide an unlimited number of MentionMe referral links to their friends, subject to applicable gaming controls, but may only earn a maximum of five Amazon.co.uk Gift Cards within any 24 hour period and an overall maximum of 25 Amazon.co.uk Gift Cards within any 12 month period.
  • There are no costs or fees associated with selling your car with Carwow or joining our refer-a-friend scheme.
  • Carwow reserves the right to vary any part or all elements of this offer, including the rewards themselves, at any time without notice.

I’ve referred someone to Carwow with a MentionMe link and they have completed their sale. When will we both get our Amazon.co.uk Gift Cards?

  • If you are both eligible to receive your Amazon.co.uk Gift Cards, we will email you to let you know. You will each receive your £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Card within 30 days of your friend completing the sale* of their car.

I’ve signed up for the refer-a-friend scheme but can’t remember what the offer was or how to share it.

I signed up for the refer-a-friend scheme with a different name or I spelt my name incorrectly, can I change it?

I referred my friend to Carwow through MentionMe, but I haven’t received my Amazon.co.uk Gift Card yet.

Unfortunately, this could happen for several reasons:

  • Your friend has not yet completed the sale of their car, with their car collected by the dealer.
  • Your friend did not complete the sale of their car within 3 months of joining the referral program (i.e. within 3 months of entering their email using the unique referral link).
  • Your friend has completed the sale of their car, but they have also previously sold another car with Carwow within the last twelve months. Only friends who have not sold their car with us in the last twelve months are eligible for this scheme.
  • They did not follow the refer-a-friend link that you gave them when they sold their car.
  • Your friend’s car was not eligible to be sold in our online daily auction to our nationwide dealer network**, but rather they sold their car not in auction via our partners The Car Buying Group, We Want Any Car or Money 4 Your Motors. This makes your friend’s sale ineligible for our refer-a-friend scheme.
  • It has been less than 30 days since your friend completed the sale of their car. In these instances, the reward is likely on its way soon.
  • You used a different email address when you opted into the refer-a-friend scheme with Mention Me. Please check which email account you used to sign up for Mention Me. 
  • If none of these apply to you and your friend, please contact our customer service team and provide the registration number of the car sold, your name and email address, and the name of your referee.

I was referred to Carwow with my friend's MentionMe link, and sold my car, but I haven’t received my Amazon.co.uk Gift Card yet.

Unfortunately, this could happen for several reasons:

  • You did not complete the sale of your car within 3 months of joining the referral program (i.e. within 3 months of entering your email using the unique referral link).
  • You have already sold a car with Carwow in the last twelve months. 
  • You sold your car via The Car Buying Group, We Want Any Car or Money 4 Your Motors not in our online daily auction to our nationwide dealer network**, making the sale ineligible for our refer-a-friend scheme.
  • It has been less than 30 days since you completed the sale of your car, with your car collected by a dealer – in which case the reward is likely on its way soon. 
  • You did not follow the refer-a-friend link correctly during the sale process. 
  • If none of these apply to you and your friend, please contact our customer service team and provide the reg of the car sold, your name and email address, and the name of your referrer.

Please note there is no need to tell us you have completed the sale of your car to receive your reward, as it will be sent automatically. Please wait until 30 days after you have sold your car to receive your email from MentionMe with your Amazon.co.uk Gift Card.

General

  • By using the Carwow refer-a-friend scheme you agree to these terms and conditions.
  • Carwow will not be responsible for (and will have no liability in connection with) acts, omissions and occurrences beyond Carwow’s reasonable control.
  • By signing up for the Carwow refer-a-friend scheme, you acknowledge that Carwow (and its group companies on its behalf), may process, store, distribute and/or use the information (including personal data) you provide to administer the Carwow refer-a-friend scheme. See Carwow’s privacy policy and Mention Me’s privacy policy for details of how personal data is processed. 
  • These terms and conditions and the Carwow refer-a-friend scheme are governed by English law. The courts in the United Kingdom have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising under these terms and conditions.

*A completed sale of a car means that the car must be sold and collected by the winning dealer with no cancellation
**Eligibility criteria for selling via our dealer network apply, based on vehicle model, age, and mileage. Criteria may change at Carwow’s discretion.
