Accessibility Statement for Carwow

At Carwow, we aim to ensure our Website is inclusive and accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We aim to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility. For example, that means you should be able to:

• Navigate most parts of our Website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
• Listen to most of the Website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
• Adjust colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser settings
• Zoom in up to 200% without text spilling off the screen on most pages on our Website without impacting functionality 
• We keep our language user-friendly and simple so that our content is easy to read and understand 
• We use contrasting colours to make pages on our Website easy to look at
• Most of the videos on our Website (and all those hosted on our YouTube channels) include captions, so you can read along if you’re struggling to hear the audio
• We build pages using consistent layouts, components and our house font to ensure users with cognitive differences or visual impairments can digest content more easily

We are working with accessibility consultants to evaluate our accessibility offering and to explore how we can continuously improve our Website.

Here are some of the ways we currently build accessibility behind the scenes:

• Appointment of an internal Accessibility Guild
• Share internal trainings, know-how documents and accessibility tools for our web development and design teams
• Aim to include accessibility in our design and web development processes
• Working with accessibility consultants to see where we can be better
• Provide accessibility tools and education to assist designers and content developers
• We use clean, structured code so that assistive technologies can better read our Website
• Images contain alternative text for screen readers

We acknowledge that some areas still need improvement. We know some parts of the Website are not fully accessible, for example:

• There is a limit to how far you can zoom in to pages on our Website without the text spilling off the screen
• You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
• You cannot skip to the main content when using a screen reader

We will continue to work with accessibility consultants, run regular testing, educate our teams and aim to implement best practices for accessibility across our Website.
