Code of Car-Changing

Trust and confidence sit at the heart of car-changing.

Our customers have to be able to trust the dealer partners we work with. So before we start a partnership with any dealer, they have to agree to our commitments below.

While Carwow is not responsible for the behaviour of users of our Platform, this code sets out the standards we expect from those who use it and how those standards apply to the different types of users.

Code of car-changing

All users of the Carwow Platform agree to six core commitments:

-

To always act in an honest and trustworthy way

-

To communicate clearly, respectfully,  promptly, safely, and honestly

-

To be fair, clear and transparent, on pricing and the condition of any vehicle being bought or sold

-

To be true to
their word and  honour agreed commitments

-

To always act legally and ethically

-

To act in a way that builds trust and confidence in the car-changing process

What Good Car-Changing Looks Like

  • All users of the platform should be treated with respect.

  • All platform users should treat each other equally whoever they might be. All users of our platform agree to never discriminate or make biased assumptions about anyone they buy from or sell to through Carwow.

  • Communications (whether online, through social media, through our platform or face to face) will never threaten anyone’s safety, whether physically or psychologically. Intimidation, harassment, abuse or offensive or disrepectful behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated.

  • Communications will be clear, respectful, prompt, safe, and honest.

When visiting customers’ homes, our dealer partners must always respect privacy. No photos should be taken of customers or their properties.

All users of Carwow should be honest about who they are and what they are selling.

  • Sellers must not misrepresent any feature of a vehicle or hide any faults on the car being sold. All sellers will be clear and up front in their descriptions of the vehicle and shall not present any fraudulent documentation which gives a false view of the vehicle’s previous history, usage or ownership, including service history or finance settlement letters.

  • Sellers will make sure that they clearly mark where a vehicle has been previously damaged or recently bought from salvage auctions or sold/category vehicles.

  • Sellers agree to only sell a vehicle on our platform if they are the named owner on the V5 or if they have the legal right to sell the vehicle.

  • Any information dealer partners give about themselves, any employees, or if relevant dealerships will be accurate and honestly portrayed.

  • All users agree never to pretend to be someone they are not. This is fraud and will not be tolerated.

  • Dealer partners will not fraudulently pose as a private seller when they are in fact a commercial dealer.
  • Pricing must be transparent, fair and reflective of the true value of the vehicle.

  • Dealer partners will not place significant over-bids in order to secure an auction.

  • When buying a vehicle, dealer partners will always be honest and fair when discussing and setting price and will make sure it is a fair reflection of the vehicle being sold.

  • Dealer partners will be transparent around finance commissions.

  • Dealer partners will only ever reduce the offered price of a car when there is a good and genuine reason to do so based on evidence.

  • Sellers must ensure any negative equity on finance is paid off before selling a vehicle.

  • Sales, discounts and marketing will not be intentionally misleading in the way offers and pricing are displayed.

  • Should a vehicle be mis-described to the extent it is reasonable to adjust the price, then everyone agrees to abide by this Code and enter such discussions with respect and honesty to reach a satisfactory result for everyone. Once agreed, the seller will not go back on the price they agreed to sell at.

  • All charges when selling a vehicle must be clear in the upfront price.
  • People want to change their car and they want to do it quickly. Our dealer partners must try their hardest to make this journey quick, easy, painless and even enjoyable.

  • All users will be punctual when agreeing times. If things don’t go to plan, users agree to communicate promptly to re-arrange.
  • Once we’ve introduced a customer seller and a dealer partner for a specific vehicle, the dealer partner must not contact or try to do a deal with that seller outside of the Carwow Platform.

  • For that vehicle, all offers and chats must stay on Carwow until the deal is done.

  • Dealer partners agree not to make any offers or transact outside the Carwow Platform once an introduction has been made about a vehicle on our platform.

ACTING LEGALLY, ETHICALLY AND WITH INTEGRITY

All users of the Carwow Platform agree:

-

To always act
legally and ethically

-

To always act in an honest way

-

To be
true to
their word

SUSTAINABLE AND RESPONSIBLE PRACTICES

Our dealer partners do what they can to ensure they are not causing unnecessary damage to the environment, disposing of vehicles sustainably, including re-using and recycling where possible.

DISPUTE HANDLING AND ESCALATION

Car-changing does not always go to plan. When issues arise, all users are expected to act calmly, fairly and
in good faith.

Concerns should be raised promptly through our complaints handling process, or for dealer partners by raising with your account manager. Users agree to engage constructively and respectfully to try to resolve issues in the first instance.
All users agree to provide honest and timely information and to cooperate with any reasonable requests when a dispute arises.

Where a dispute cannot be resolved, users agree to engage with Carwow’s dispute handling processes and follow any reasonable guidance provided.

Abusive, threatening or obstructive behaviour will not be tolerated.
Where appropriate, Carwow may review the circumstances, request evidence, and take action in line with this Code and our terms and conditions.
