How do I get the best price when I sell my van?

  • Make sure it’s in good nick

    Fix any large dents, scuffs, or damage to get the best price for your van. Don’t worry about every minor scratch, though!

  • Maintain a full service history

    Have your service records and repair receipts to hand so our dealers know your van has been well looked after.

  • Describe in detail (and honestly!)

    Add in as much info as you can along with the clearest images possible. The more damage you mention now, the fairer your valuation down the line.

  • Got modifications? Let us know

    Modifications can affect your initial valuation. If you can, provide supporting paperwork of the work done.

  • Remove any signwriting

    Have any graphics or decals? We recommend getting them removed. Less prep work for the buyer means a better offer for you.

You’ll need your registration, good pictures, and a few basic details like your van’s mileage and service history.

When it comes to collection day, you’ll need:

  • V5C
  • Driving licence 
  • Service history
  • Spare keys
  • Finance settlement letter (if applicable)
  • Locking wheel nut (if applicable)

During the vehicle handover, you’ll need to remove the green 'new keeper' slip from inside the logbook, and give it to the buyer. You’ll then need to fill in the new keeper’s details on the rest of the logbook, and send that off to the DVLA to inform them of the sale. If you don’t, you might not get the full entitlement of any car tax refund you’re due.

If you’re VAT registered, you’ll also need to issue an invoice to the buyer with the VAT registered number.

Yes, but you will need a letter of authorisation from the director of the company. If you are the director, the buyer will check the company’s registration details online. You will also need ID - your driver’s licence will be sufficient.

Yes, but remember that this may alter your van’s valuation. We’ll ask you about the changes you’ve made to your van and a member of our team will reach out via phone or email to confirm the details. At all stages, it’s worth providing as much detail as you possibly can about any conversions. If your van’s valuation changes as a result, we’ll let you know before it’s put into one of our auctions.
We can do it in as little as 24 hours. As soon as your listing is approved, we put your van into one of our daily auctions. Like all things, how fast it sells depends on demand for your van. If it doesn’t sell at auction, we’ll show your van for two additional days to give you a second chance to sell it.

Once you accept your offer, someone will be in touch to arrange next steps. Our dealers will pick up your van on a day that works for you, so make sure you have your documents ready to avoid any delays.

Many of our dealers buy vans that are on finance. You’ll need to provide a settlement letter from your finance company. If the sale price exceeds the settlement figure, you'll get the extra cash, which is known as positive equity. 

But if the van's value is less, you'll need to cover the difference, called negative equity.
