How do I get the best price when I sell my van?

  • Carry out repair work

Don’t worry about every minor scratch to the paintwork, but if your van has any larger dents, scuffs, or damage, then it might be worth considering getting these repaired.

  • Keep a full service history

Try and have your service records and repair receipts to hand so our buyers know your van has been looked after.

  • Give a detailed and honest description

Provide as much information as you can, along with the clearest images possible. Failing to mention any damage or other problems with your van could affect its valuation.

  • Provide details of any conversions

Tell us about any modifications because these can affect your initial valuation, and if you can, provide supporting paperwork of the work done.

  • Remove any signwriting

If your van has any graphics or decals, we’d recommend getting them removed as it will likely result in a better offer because there’s less prep work for the buyer to do.

  • Give it a good clean

Clean it thoroughly both inside and out to get your van looking as close to showroom fresh as possible.

Van selling FAQs

You'll just need your V5C logbook to sell your van. During the vehicle handover, you’ll need to remove the green 'new keeper' slip from inside the logbook, and give it to the buyer. You’ll then need to fill in the new keeper’s details on the rest of the logbook, and send that off to the DVLA to inform them of the sale. If you don’t, you might not get the full entitlement of any car tax refund you’re due.

If you’re VAT registered, you’ll also need to issue an invoice to the buyer with the VAT registered number.

Yes, but you will need a letter of authorisation from the director of the company. If you are the director, the buyer will check the company’s registration details online. You will also need ID - your driver’s licence will be sufficient.
Pretty much all types. Commercial vans, motorhomes, pick-up trucks, box vans, combi vans, panel vans, campervans - you name it.
Yes, but remember that this may alter your van’s valuation. We’ll ask you about the changes you’ve made to your van and a member of our team will reach out via phone or email to confirm the details. At all stages, it’s worth providing as much detail as you possibly can about any conversions. If your van’s valuation changes as a result, we’ll let you know before it’s put into one of our auctions.
Glad you asked. Once you’ve entered your reg for a quick valuation, we’ll just need a few more details about your van and some photos. Once we’ve got them our team will be in touch to help you set a ‘reserve price’ - this is the amount you’d be happy to sell your van for, many customers get more!

Then we’ll do EVERYTHING else. As you go about your day your van will be advertised in our online auctions and our network of trusted nationwide dealers can bid on it. When the auction’s over we’ll let you know the result and the winning dealer will be in touch to arrange a free collection and your payment.

It’s completely free! No hidden costs or admin fees, all you need to think about is what you’ll do with the money!
Once your listing is approved:

  • We’ll get your van into one of our daily auctions - the speed of offers depends on the demand for your specific model. If it doesn’t sell at auction we’ll showcase your van for two additional days to give you a second chance to sell it.
  • Once you accept an offer you love, we or the dealer will be in touch within 48 hours to sort out the next steps.
  • Make sure you have your documents ready to avoid any delays - our dealers will pick up your van on a day that works for both of you.

So it’s pretty smooth sailing… or should that be smooth cruising?

Many of our dealers buy vans that are on finance. You’ll need to provide a settlement letter from your finance company. If the sale price exceeds the settlement figure, you'll get the extra cash, which is known as positive equity.

But if the van's value is less, you'll need to cover the difference, called negative equity.

Just remember, the process for settling your outstanding finance may vary depending on your finance contract.

We connect you with a network of trusted dealerships, including franchised dealers, independent dealers, and specialist buyers. You'll receive competitive offers based on your van's details, helping you get a great price.
Most payments arrive on the same day as your van is collected, but some dealers have their own policies. Rest assured, we only work with trusted dealers to give you a secure and hassle-free experience.
