Alfa Romeo SUVs Discover the Alfa Romeo SUV range and compare new, used and leasing deals

Alfa Romeo, traditionally, wasn’t a maker of SUVs (aside from the 1950s Alfa 1900M military Jeep-style vehicle) but the Stelvio changed all that and showed us that traditional Alfa values of style and fun could mix with an SUV shape. Now, it’s building lots of SUVs, with more to come…

Alfa Romeo SUV models: current range

Alfa currently has a three-strong SUV lineup, with a new (and electric) Stelvio due in 2026.

Alfa Romeo Junior Electric

The Junior is a controversial car for Alfa, as it’s not just the company’s first small SUV, it’s also the first all-electric Alfa (although there is a hybrid version too). A 250-mile range isn’t brilliant, but the Junior is good fun to drive, especially if you get the 280hp Veloce version.

Alfa Romeo Tonale

Alfa’s mid-size SUV, the Tonale, has ancient Fiat underpinnings and that shows in how it drives. It can be fun, but it’s often a bit clumsy, and the 280hp plug-in hybrid is awkward to drive. It’s good looking, though, and has a classy cabin.

Alfa Romeo Romeo Stelvio

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio proved that not only could Alfa make an SUV, it could make one that’s good looking (mostly) and good to drive too. Even the basic diesel model is fun in the corners, although the 280hp Veloce version is better again. Cabin is ageing fast, though, with poor infotainment, although it’s well-made.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio

An Alfa with a Ferrari engine? Sort of — the Quadrifoglio’s 520hp V6 is distantly related to some Ferrari engines, but it has a noisy, rapid character all of its own. Not the best fast SUV to drive, but the hot Stelvio is still big fun and cuts a stylish dash.

Alfa Romeo SUVs FAQs

Yes, in fact Alfa Romeo makes three SUVs — the small Junior, the mid-size Tonale, and the bigger Stelvio.
It’s a bit of a mixed bag. The little Junior is quite good fun to drive, but it’s small in the back. The Tonale suffers from having ancient Fiat bits under the skin. The best is the Stelvio which is good looking, roomy, and really fun to drive.
For now, the largest Alfa SUV is the Stelvio, but it’s possible that larger models, to compete with the BMW X5 and Audi Q7, might be made in the future.
