Minnie Driver praises crash test design of electric SUV following horror smash in France.
Hollywood star Minnie Driver has spoken of her gratitude to the Kia EV2 for saving her life after being in a terrifying car crash in rural France.
The A-list star of Good Will Hunting and Disney’s Tarzan called Kia a ‘baller car company’ for designing the car her and her friend were in when they were involved in a crash.
In her post on Instagram, Driver said: “I got into a really bad car accident. We somehow crawled out of it alive.”
She explained that she and her friend were driving on a country road in the middle of France when another car crossed an intersection ‘and we T-boned it’.
“I’m fine. I’m in shock but I am going to heal,” she said. “The reason that I am not dead is the car we were driving. We were in this little Kia EV2. I’ve never been in a crash before. The 360 degree airbags are what saved our lives. The fact that the entire car didn’t concertina and crush us is down to the design of that car which is astonishing.”
Driver posted an image of the smashed car in her reel. She added: “This is categorically not a car ad. I want to celebrate that car that saved us. We have families that love us. I am so grateful to be alive. So Kia – you are a baller car company. You are amazing. Thanks very much from me, my family and the people who love me.”
Kia has recently launched the EV2 – a small electric SUV. The car’s crash test score is due to be published by crash testing organisation EuroNCAP next month. However its slightly larger electric SUV the EV3 (standard model) did score four stars in crash tests, and five stars when fitted with the optional Safety Pack.
