Electric SUVs are growing in popularity worldwide, with Chinese EVs attracting particular attention. One such model worth considering is the BYD Sealion 7 from China, designed to earn a spot on your shortlist if you’re thinking about making the switch to electric.
The front seats in the BYD Sealion 7 are big, squashy and comfortable, and the storage solutions for smaller items are useful – but the back seats are huge, so rear passengers will be able to stretch out as much as they’d like.
You won’t have any issues fitting lanky teens or bulky child seats back here, though the middle seat backrest is quite uncomfortable so it’s certainly better for two people.
BYD Sealion 7 deals: save £6,800*
The BYD Sealion 7 usually starts from £47,000, but through Carwow you can get it for £45,149. The biggest savings can be found on the Excellence model, with £6,800 off at the time of writing. The Excellence spec brings a 523hp dual-motor setup and up to 312 miles of range. You also get real leather seats – as opposed to vegan leather on the lower trims – and a head-up display.
At 520 litres in capacity, boot space can’t hold a candle to the Tesla Model Y but it’s pretty good compared with most other alternatives. There’s a deep underfloor storage compartment and even a useful ‘frunk’ where you’d find the engine on a combustion-powered car.
