Mitsubishi ASX gets facelifted: can you tell?

July 15, 2015 by

Mitsubishi has released its updated ASX for 2015. You’ll need to read this guide, however, because you won’t spot the changes otherwise

Mitsubishi’s Suzuki Vitara-rivalling ASX has seen another round of updates for 2015. This version could be the last before its replacement arrives nearer 2017.

The problem is, you can barely tell. We’ve put the old model and the new model next to one another below – can you see the two things that have changed for the new model? Answers are below and, naturally, the colour doesn’t count.

Did you spot them? If so – well done – we couldn’t tell until we checked the information supplied by Mitsubishi. Firstly, there’s a new two-tone alloy wheel design that looks more intricate than older versions. Secondly, surrounding those new alloys are black wheel arch trims designed to make the car look chunkier. We said it was subtle…

Similarly, the interior gets very, very understated updates – mainly a redesigned steering wheel and a slightly modified moulding for the infotainment screen. We’ve put them side-by-side below but don’t expect to spot the changes without a magnifying glass.

Three engines are available – a 1.6-litre petrol with 115hp, a 2.2-litre diesel that’s only offered with four-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox, or a new 1.6-litre diesel with 112hp and optional four-wheel drive.

The ASX should provide families with plenty of peace of mind thanks to its safe design. Its crash-resistant structure is complemented by a full range of safety tech including stability and traction control, emergency stop signalling and Isofix mounting points.

Black wheel arch trims complement the new alloy wheels

Equipment levels are competitive with keyless entry, air conditioning and alloy wheels all coming as standard. Bluetooth connectivity, heated leather seats, sat-nav and a reversing camera make up the options list.

What next?
