SEAT Ibiza size and dimensions guide

The latest SEAT Ibiza is bigger and more refined than the previous generation, feeling much more like the larger Leon hatchback. Read our dimensions guide to see if it’ll fit into your lifestyle and find out how it compares to some of its closest competitors.

Exterior dimensions

At 4,059mm, the latest Ibiza is just 6mm shorter than the Fiesta, but a whole 60mm longer than the Micra. The Ibiza is the widest of the three at 1,942mm including the door mirrors, but the difference between that and the Micra’s 1,935mm width won’t be obvious. At 1,444mm, it’s a noticeable 30mm lower than the Fiesta to give the impression of speed and sportiness.

Interior dimensions

The Ibiza’s front headroom beats the 992mm in the Fiesta by 30mm. In the rear, the difference is just 2mm in the Ibiza’s favour. Nissan hasn’t provided any figures for the Micra but, cryptically, says anyone from 4’11 up to 6’7 can fit in the front. The Ibiza’s may only be millimetres wider than its rivals, but there’s 103mm of extra rear shoulder room than the Fiesta.

Boot space

While the Fiesta and Micra have to make do with 292 and 300-litre boots respectively, the new Ibiza musters an impressive 355 litres. That’s actually four litres larger than the Vauxhall Astra and nearly 40 litres more than the Ford Focus – both of which are family-sized hatchbacks.

If you regularly fold the seats down for tip trips or runs to Ikea, the Ibiza will make a bit less sense. At 823 litres with the rear bench folded, it’s short of the 1,004 litres of the Micra and 270 litres less than the Fiesta.

Fuel tank and turning circle

The Ibiza’s 40-litre fuel tank is about average for the class. The largest is the Fiesta’s 42-litre tank, while the Micra has a 41-litre tank. The Ibiza also has the widest turning circle but, at 10.6 metres, it’s still more than manoeuvrable enough for city driving. Both the Fiesta and Micra manage a 10-metre turning circle.

Weight and towing capacity

The lightest Ibiza weighs 1,122kg while the Ford weighs 1,113kg and the lightest Micra is a featherweight 1,037kg. Its modest 1,200kg braked towing weight means you’re better off getting a bigger car if you’re planning to haul a lot. The Fiesta can only manage up to 1,000kg while the Micra manages up to 1,200kg with its most powerful petrol engine.
