Kudos to Fiat for making the 500’s standard-fit colour such a bright and vibrant one. The Italian car maker has promised to banish grey from its colour schemes, and this Sicilian orange, which is meant to look like a Mediterranean sunset, is a particularly good way of getting away from the grey.

Red always looks good on an Italian car, and Passodoble red on the 500 is no exception. The only thing is, it’s not so much better looking than the free Sicilian orange to make it worth the extra cash.

White was the colour that Fiat relaunched this 500 with, all those years ago, and it’s a shade that still looks great on the retro lines. There’s a richer lustre to this colour, so it doesn’t look like basic rental car white, but it’s a shame Fiat charges extra for it.

Metallic - Crossover black

Crossover black looks a bit basic on the 500. It’s a passably classy colour for the price, but why buy a cheeky, cheerful car like this and then paint it black?

This is arguably the best optional colour for the 500, and if Sicilian orange is too bright and ‘look at me’ for your tastes, then Epic blue’s deep, rich shade should do the trick. There’s quite a bit of green in this blue, so it’s more like a deep sea water colour.

Metallic - Dew green

Dew green is a good colour for the 500, as it seems more bright and fun than black, but in UK light it can start to look a little bit dull and flat. It really needs bright sunshine to look at its best.
