Car changing is a big deal
- The compact SUV is one of only two models eligible for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant
- Hyundai Tucson remains in the top three of most-enquired models on Carwow since the beginning of 2025
The Ford Puma Gen-E has rapidly risen through the rankings to become the most in-demand new vehicle on Carwow, following news that the compact SUV is one of only two models currently eligible for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG).
The surge in configurations and enquiries for the recently launched all-electric Puma on Carwow highlights how significantly government incentives are impacting battery electric vehicle (BEV) demand. Taking account of the grant, the Ford Puma Gen-E has become one of the most affordable electric models in its category in the UK, at £27,045 RRP on the road before any additional incentives.
Carwow reports that, while non-eligible BEVs are seeing lower levels of growth compared to those that are, overall interest in BEVs is strong and consistent with many OEMs introducing additional discounts to stimulate and meet demand. In the last four weeks, enquiries for models under the £37,000 threshold have risen 53% compared to the previous four weeks, while those above this threshold have risen by 11%, demonstrating the increased levels of interest the grant has inspired in EVs regardless of price.
In the list of new models that are most in demand on Carwow, second spot is taken by the JAECOO 7, closely followed by the Hyundai Tucson – the latter having remained in the top five since the beginning of the year.
Philipp Sayler von Amende, Global Chief Commercial Officer at Carwow said: “Since the introduction of the ECG and the subsequent news about eligible models, there has been a notable increase in BEV configurations and enquiries on Carwow compared to other powertrains.
“Most notably, the movement we’ve seen in Carwow’s most-enquired charts this year are the biggest we’ve seen in a long while, with long-standing popular brands and models falling away from the top five, new entrants appearing on a quarterly basis and Ford returning to claim the top spot once more. The beginning of September also saw EV’s representing 34% of all configurations on Carwow, marking the first time that configurations for electric models have had parity with petrol models.
“This presents a clear opportunity for dealer partners that are ‘in it to win it’. Those who maximise exposure on our platform will reach more in-market car buyers and help convert more drivers to BEVs.”
The Ford Puma has received significant traction in the two months following its introduction to Carwow. In the 30 days following the grant announcement, the Puma received 1700% more configurations and a 540% increase in the number of enquiries sent to dealer partners, compared with its first 30 days available.
