Hyundai i30 Fastback N (2017-2020) interior

The Hyundai i30 Fastback N’s cabin looks almost identical to the standard i30 N’s – though that’s no bad thing. It feels plush and has just the right amount of sporty touches to make it feel special

Style

The Hyundai i30 Fastback N’s interior doesn’t look quite as lairy as its sporty exterior, but you still get a few eye-catching design tweaks to help you tell it apart from the standard i30 Fastback.

The air vents, for example, come with bright red detailing while the gear lever now sports a chunkier gear-like metal ring and some red contrasting stitching. You’ll find more contrasting stitching on the upgraded sports seats too, along with some embossed N logos.

You’ll also spot a set of metal pedal trims that don’t come as standard on the standard i30 Fastback, and a sportier steering wheel with some N badges, red stitching and a couple of extra drive-mode switches.

On the whole, the quality of the Hyundai i30 Fastback N’s plastics is good. You won’t find any particularly brittle surfaces in areas you’ll touch regularly and all its various buttons and switches feel pretty solid. Although, a VW Golf GTI feels plusher inside and certainly stands out more thanks to its barmy tartan seats.

The Hyundai i30 Fastback N’s cabin doesn’t look quite as eye-catching as the bonkers tartan interior you’ll find in a VW Golf, but it still has all the sporty red hallmarks you expect of a hot hatch

Infotainment

You get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard in the Hyundai i30 Fastback N. It’s the same as the system you get in high-spec versions of the standard i30 Fastback, so it’s bright and reasonably responsive, but some of the menu icons could do with a bit more colour to make them easier to read.

You do at least get a set of physical shortcut buttons to help you switch between key features and an all-important volume button for the stereo. Sat-nav also comes as standard but, although it’s reasonably easy to enter an address, the maps are a little slow to load when you use the buttons to zoom in and out.

Thankfully, the Hyundai i30 Fastback N comes with Apple and Android smartphone mirroring so you can use your favourite navigation and music-streaming apps directly through the Hyundai’s touchscreen.
