It’s simply an affordable electric car with a practical cabin
This small electric SUV may not stand out in any one particular area, but that’s where its appeal lies. It’s a bit bland to look at on the outside, but step inside and it gets a bit better. It has a simple dashboard and a large portrait-orientated infotainment screen which is quick to respond to your inputs.
It’s nice and roomy in the front, and rear seat space is good too, so long as you don’t try to squeeze three in. And as for the boot, the Jaecoo E5 has up to 480 litres. That’s more capacity than both the MG S5 EV and Renault 4, though the Ford Puma Gen-E’s 556 litres is unbeatable at this price.
The E5 is a touch jittery over rough roads, but for the most part it soaks up bumps nicely. Its electric motors are smooth and it’s good to drive down the motorway too. That said, it’s not that great on twisty roads, with the body leaning a lot in corners.
