About Jaecoo

Jaecoo is a new company, having only been founded in 2023. It’s the upmarket sister brand to another Chinese newcomer, Omoda.

The Jaecoo name comes from combining the German word Jäger, which means ‘hunter’, and the English word ‘cool’.

Launching in the UK with the Jaecoo 7 SUV, it’s a bit different to most other new Chinese entrants to the market, because it’s not launching a range of electric vehicles. Instead the 7 comes with petrol and plug-in hybrid engines.

The brand appears to be targeting those who aspire to own cars from posh brands such as Land Rover and BMW, but with prices that are in line with mainstream alternatives.

How much is a Jaecoo car?

Jaecoo currently only sells one car. The Jaecoo 7 starts at less than £30,000 in the Deluxe trim with a pure petrol engine, while the top of the range Luxury model with a plug-in hybrid engine starts at just over £35,000.
