Colour guide
Metallic - Deep blue
Free
Deep blue is almost purple, but calling it deep purple might have run into issues with rock band lawsuits. It’s actually a really appealing colour, but the fact that it is undeniably purple might put a few people off. Not available for F-Sport models.
Metallic - Graphite black
Free
There’s a faint hint of gold shimmer under the surface of Graphite black that just works really well on the ES’ shape. It may not be the most exciting of paint options, but it’s pretty decent for a free metallic.

Metallic - Ice ecru
Free
Not available for F-Sport models and you can see why — it’s the most un-sporty colour ever, being basically a metallic beige. That said, it looks nice and shiny on a sunny day and actually suits the lines of the ES quite nicely.
Metallic - Mesa red
Free
Mesa red comes with slightly orange-y undertones that stops it being too strident, and leaves us wondering what the ES would look like in a proper fire-engine red. It’s a pleasing enough colour, but arguably one that doesn’t work as well as other options here.
Metallic - Sunlight green
Free
A really interesting shade this, almost an Aston Martin kind of green, and one that looks great on the ES. You could argue that a darker green would have looked classier, but this is one of our favourite ES shades even so.
Special metallic - Sonic grey
£250
A dark, warm shade of metallic grey, Sonic will probably get a bit lost in the executive car park, against all those similar BMW, Audi, and Mercedes paints, but it’s works well on the ES and there’s nothing wrong with it in and of itself.
Special metallic - Sonic platinum
£250
Sonic platinum manages to be both brighter and warmer than Sonic grey, and it’s a much more interesting shade with a deal more shimmer to it. It has the same problem of looking like all the rival German metallic silvers, but it’s a stronger colour than you’d think.
Special metallic - Sonic titanium
£250
Think of Sonic titanium as the sportier brother to Ice ecru — both have strong sandy brown tones in the paint, but titanium is mixed in with enough silver and gunmetal to avoid any hearing-aid comparisons. Actually quite a nice colour.
Special metallic - Sonic white
£250
While F-Sport white looks good as a contrast with its sporty black trim, Sonic white looks a little lost agains the standard ES’ chrome exterior bits and bobs. Also; wedding car. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
