The twinkling, sparkling lights of Christmas decorations are what make us here at carwow feel warm, cosy and especially festive this time of year. We’re overjoyed to see that it’s not just the big shopping streets in London or Edinburgh taking all the glory, but more and more residences in streets up and down the country are taking the time, effort and expense to light up this gloomy time of year with incredible Christmas light displays.
To spread a little Christmas joy, we’ve collated the flashiest, prettiest, over-the-top and special displays that we know about onto one easy map of the UK. We’ve asked our friends and families, searched local and social media and asked the lovely people at We Hang Christmas Lights to find nearly 200 locations in almost every county that will make it easy for you to take a fun, festive drive wherever you are in the UK this Christmas – without the congestion charges or traffic of big city light viewing.

A small idea to light up their house has turned into a fantastic fundraising event for a couple in Bideford, Devon. Their 60 decorations use 47 household sockets and attracted 200 people at the great local switch-on!
This stunning arrangement in Bodmin took months to plan, and even includes a Santa’s Grotto and a special post box to send Father Christmas a letter. The house owner, Daniel, says he works on the display to raise money for charity but also to bring joy to local families.
Westfield, East Sussex
Every year the small village of Westfield in East Sussex plays host to a fantastic Christmas light display in aid of the St Michaels Hospice. They switch on from 6pm every day throughout December.
A teenager has created a stunning Christmas lights show across five houses all sequenced to a variety of pop and Christmas hits. Has to be seen to be believed!
This epic display isn’t just about lights, it is timed to Christmas songs, with a show lasting 30 minutes. Owner Greg Macaree is raising funds for the Big C charity through the display, a cause close to his heart following the passing away of his father-in-law. The super light show runs 5.30am to 9pm every day until the end of December.
More than 10,000 Christmas lights adorn the Woods family home in Prestonpans in Scotland, as their festive display brings the attention of whole neighbourhood. Another display created for a good cause, they raise money for Mission Christmas and Cash for Kids.
This family home in the area of Hangleton in Brighton, is one of the most well known in the city for its display that is getting bigger and bigger each year. Featuring waterfalls, wishing wells, giant Santas and reindeer, the display is an explosion of all things Christmas. What makes it even better, is that like many others on this list, it raises money for charity.
Ever since 2002, Resident Archbishop of the Open Episcopal Church, Jonathan Blake has illuminated his house to raise money for charity. This year is no different, with a festive feast for the eyes, with the goal of raising money for a water scheme in Gambia.
