Audi Q3 sizes and dimensions guide

The Audi Q3 is a popular choice thanks to its excellent build quality and upmarket image. Its rivals include the BMW X1, the Range Rover Evoque and the Mercedes GLA – all of which compete in the fiercely contested compact premium SUV sector.

It sits somewhere between Audi’s smaller hatchbacks and larger SUVs so we’ve put together this sizes and dimensions guide to help you decide if it’ll fit into your life. Our Audi Q3 deals page will make sure you get the cheapest prices and the best service.

Audi Q3 exterior dimensions

The Q3’s exterior dimensions are fairly average for its class. At 4,388mm in length, it’s marginally shorter than the 4,417mm Mercedes GLA. Compared to the 4,358mm Ford Focus, you can see how compact this SUV is – you won’t have any issues fitting it in a garage. That said, width is worth considering and, in the Q3’s case, it’s just over two metres wide including the door mirrors.

Exterior dimensions
Length 4,388mm
Width (including door mirrors) 2,019mm
Height 1,608mm
Wheelbase 2,603mm

Audi Q3 interior dimensions

The interior looks high quality and feels well screwed together. Thanks to its lofty height, there’s tons of headroom in the front but the sloping rear end means taller rear passengers might need to stoop slightly. Despite this, there’s more rear legroom than an equivalent Audi A3 making it easier for families.

Interior dimensions
Front headroom 1,019mm
Rear headroom 969mm
Front elbowroom 1,474mm
Rear elbowroom 1,426mm

Audi Q3 boot space

There’s 420 litres of space with the rear seats up but, should you need to carry bulky loads, fold them down and you get a generous 1,325 litres to play with. It’s a disappointment compared to the cavernous BMW X1, though – with the seats up there’s over 505 litres of space, and folding them flat will give you an extra 200 litres over the Q3. The higher boot lip compared to an A3 also makes loading heavier items a little harder.

Boot space (seats up) 420 litres
Boot space (seats folded) 1,325 litres

Audi Q3 turning circle and fuel tank capacity

The Audi isn’t difficult to drive and the turning circle reflects this – at 11.8 metres, it’s almost identical to the Mercedes GLA and smaller than the outgoing Volkswagen Tiguan’s 12 metres. Whichever engine you opt for, you’ll get a sizeable 64-litre fuel tank.

Turning circle 11.8 metres
Fuel tank 64 litres

Audi Q3 weight and towing limits

The lightest Q3 weighs 1,385kg but liberal ticking of the options list and the addition of a diesel engine takes that up to 1,585kg. Fit a tow bar and the Q3 is a reasonably capable towing vehicle, offering a maximum braked trailer load of 2,000kg.

Weights and towing
Lightest 1,385kg
Heaviest 1,585kg
Max braked towing weight 2,000kg
