A plug-in hybrid seven-seater for this cash is unbelievable
The Tiggo 8 is well worth a look, because I think it’s such an impressive car that it was even our 2026 Car of the Year.
This big, seven-seater family SUV is available with a plug-in hybrid engine, all for around the same price as a mid-range Volkswagen Golf. It’s also rather plush inside and comes with plenty of standard equipment. The infotainment system is another highlight, with a crisp, clear display and lightning-quick responses to your inputs. However, it can be a bit frustrating to use because the menus are fussily laid out.
There’s plenty of room for tall adults in the front two rows. The third row is still usable too, although it’s better suited to kids on longer journeys. With all seven seats in place, the boot is a tiny 177 litres, but fold the rear seats down and you get a much more useful 700 litres of space.
The Tiggo 8 may be spacious and practical, but it isn’t particularly comfortable around town. It tends to wallow and fidget over bumps and dips, and it doesn’t settle down much on the motorway either, where there’s quite a lot of road noise. It also leans noticeably through bends, so it isn’t the most enjoyable car to drive on a twisty country road.
