Porsche Macan Electric GTS alternatives: five of the best sporty EVs
November 03, 2025 by David Motton
The Porsche Macan is one of the most exciting SUVs you can buy, whether you choose a petrol or electric model. Now there’s an EV version of the Macan GTS that promises ferocious performance with no exhaust emissions, sitting between the 4S and Turbo models.
Order books are open now, but before you commit to spending £89,000 there are very capable alternatives you should consider. Some are more affordable, others deliver better comfort, while some have more cabin space.
So, as tempting as the Porsche Macan Electric GTS may be, take a look at these cars too.
Remember, you can buy a brand new or used car right here on Carwow. And you can sell your car, too. We’re here to help you through every step of your car-changing journey.
1. Hyundai Ioniq 5N

Okay, it doesn’t have the badge or the heritage of the Porsche but hear us out. The Hyundai Ioniq 5N will do most things a Macan will do for more than £20,000 less.
The Hyundai is ridiculously fast, with an artificial engine sound that should be naff but somehow isn’t. It’s great fun to drive and very roomy too. On twisty roads you are aware of the car’s weight, though, and ride comfort has been compromised for a sporty drive.
2. Audi SQ6 e-tron

The Audi SQ6 e-tron and the Macan Electric GTS look to be closely matched. While the Macan has more power and is slightly quicker, the SQ6 is still fast enough leave your stomach in a different postcode if you put your foot down.
The Audi has a slightly longer range than the Porsche (372 miles rather than 363), and the SQ6 is superbly equipped and very practical.
3. BMW i4 M50

You don’t have to drive an SUV. A high-performance four-door coupé such as the BMW i4 M50 can make a compelling alternative.
The fastest BMW i4 is even quicker than the Macan Electric GTS, thanks to 601hp and four-wheel drive. It costs less, too. However, the looks are divisive and the rear seats are cramped.
4. Porsche Macan GTS (ICE)

There’s life in petrol power for a few years yet. If you are not quite ready to go electric, then you’ll get a kick out of the petrol-powered Macan GTS.
The petrol Macan is lighter than the electric version for greater agility. Then there’s the sound of the V6 Turbo, which will excite keen drivers more than the muted whine of an electric motor. Then again, the Electric GTS is quicker than its petrol counterpart. If you are choosing between the two as a company car, the EV will cost much less in tax.
5. Used BMW iX M60

A used BMW iX offers much more space than a Porsche Macan, especially in the back seats. What’s more, there’s a good chance that a nearly new iX M60 will cost less than a new Macan Electric GTS.
Not everyone takes to the iX’s unusual styling, though, and although the M60 is very fast indeed it’s not as much fun as a Macan. It suits open A-roads better than twisty country routes.
