Urban is the most basic NX you can buy, but it still comes with lots of kit. The 18-inch alloy wheels look smart, and there’s a 9.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, LED lights with automatic high beam, and plenty of connectivity.

Premium trim adds some useful safety equipment, such as the clever safe exit assist which won’t allow you to open the door if it detects something coming up in your blind spot. You also get keyless entry, ambient lighting, and a wireless phone charger.

Premium Plus versions of the NX have more sophisticated LED headlights plus LED cornering lamps. The alloy wheels are upgraded to 20 inches in diameter, and you get heated and ventilated front seats plus a 360-degree parking camera, head-up display and 64-colour ambient lighting.

Choose the F-Sport if you want a more dynamic and sporting Lexus NX. This grade comes with 20-inch alloy wheels and adaptive suspension with five different modes. Styling tweaks include a black mesh front grille, enhanced side rockers, black mirror covers, and black roof rails. Inside, the F-Sport has a leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, a leather gearlever, and aluminium pedals.

Takumi spec builds on the already generous standard equipment of the Lexus NX. The car is fitted with 20-inch alloys, a 17-speaker stereo, a digital rear-view mirror, and a sunroof. Back-pain sufferers benefit from four-way lumbar support. Sumi black wood inlays give the cabin its own distinct character.

The F Sport is the sportiest version of the NX, though it’s not any faster or more powerful. Instead, it has 20-inch F Sport alloy wheels, adaptive suspension with five driving modes, a sportier exterior look and a plush interior makeover with sports pedals, a unique steering wheel and a leather gear lever. The Takumi pack also adds a panoramic roof, more safety kit and a 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.
