Volkswagen ID Polo prices revealed – available to order from 30 July

The Volkswagen ID Polo is the brand’s smallest EV to date, but it’s slightly more expensive than the Renault 5.

This is the new Volkswagen ID Polo, and it’s a small electric hatchback which provides an alternative to the Renault 5, Cupra Raval and Citroen e-C3.

We’ve had a look around it, and it’s one of the best new cars Volkswagen has revealed in years. The interior is a real return to form, with high-quality materials and tactile switchgear replacing the touch pads and shiny black plastic we’ve been seeing recently.

Prices start from £23,495 for the basic car with a 37kWh battery, which is good for around 200 miles of range – although this is still to be confirmed. Upgrading to the 52kWh battery with 281 miles of range will cost £28,330, making the ID Polo a bit more expensive than the equivalent Renault 5.

You do get plenty of kit as standard though. All cars get a reversing camera, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone charging and a height-adjustable boot floor. For a limited time, you’ll be able to get a Launch Edition version for £25,555 which adds heated front seats and dual-zone climate control.

Mercedes-AMG A45 S Final Edition: an encore for the hyper hatch

Following the reveal of the new, all-electric AMG CLA 45 S, Mercedes has launched a Final Edition version of the petrol-powered A45 S hatchback.

The Mercedes-AMG A45 S has been around since 2019, and it’s always been highly-regarded as one of the fastest hot hatchbacks on sale. The 2.0-litre, 421hp engine is so powerful that it found its way into the C63 S saloon, and it launches the little A-Class from 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds.

Now, however, its days are numbered, and Mercedes has come up with this: the new AMG A45 S Final Edition. It’s not any faster than the standard car, but it’s been fitted with some styling and aerodynamic upgrades to help it stand out.

The front splitter is lower and wider, plus it’s highlighted in yellow. You also get massive 45 S decals on the front doors, and the rear diffuser is slightly more aggressive-looking as well.

Inside, there are more yellow accents and suede-like trim on the steering wheel, as well as more 45 S logos embroidered on the headrests and floor mats.

As for the price, the Mercedes-AMG A45 S Final Edition will cost you £67,965. That’s a couple of grand more than the standard car, and around £6,000 more than an Audi RS3.
