BYD and Denza to debut latest models at British Motor Show
Chinese manufacturer BYD and its premium sister brand Denza will showcase their latest electric and plug-in hybrid models at the British Motor Show 2026.
The event takes place at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre from 21 to 23 August, with Denza making its debut at the show.
Models on display will include BYD’s seven-seat Ti-7, Dolphin G DM-i, an updated Seal and its Shark pick-up.
The Ti-7 produces 408hp and offers up to 74 miles of electric-only range, while the Shark produces 436hp and starts from £47,290.
Visitors can also explore BYD’s tech through interactive displays and a virtual reality vehicle viewer.
Millions of drivers could be uninsured due to outdated addresses
Millions of UK drivers could be at risk of being uninsured because they haven’t updated their address with their insurer, new research has found.
The research from Aviva found that 15% of drivers surveyed don’t think they need to tell their insurer if they move home. The figure rises to 37% among drivers aged 18 to 24.
Out-of-date information could leave drivers unable to claim, leaving them to cover repair, replacement and legal costs themselves.
It’s not just a change of address that drivers are unsure about. Aviva found that 71% of drivers are unclear about which changes they need to tell their insurer about.
Other common misconceptions include whether drivers need to declare:
- A change of job – 61%
- A change in estimated annual mileage – 39%
- A change in where the car is kept overnight – 26%
- Who the main driver of the car is – 16%
Aviva is urging motorists to check their policy details and make sure their insurer has the correct information, as seemingly minor changes could affect their cover.
Volkswagen offers £1,000 off new cars in end-of-summer sale
Volkswagen is offering £1,000 off almost its entire new-car range as part of its end of summer sale.
The offer runs from 24 August to 14 September 2026 and is available to customers paying in cash as well as those using finance from Volkswagen Financial Services.
The discount can also be combined with the government’s £1,500 electric car grant, where applicable. This means buyers of eligible electric models could save up to £2,500 in total.
For example, the Volkswagen Golf Life will be available for £27,910, down from £28,910, while the T-Roc Life starts at £30,635 and the Tiguan Life from £37,920.
Eligible electric models include the ID3, ID4 and ID5, with the ID3 Pure Essential falling to £28,360 after the £1,000 sale discount and £1,500 electric car grant.
Cars must be ordered between 24 August and 14 September and handed over to customers by 31 December 2026 to qualify.
There are some exclusions, including the all-new ID Polo, ID Cross, Golf GTI Edition 50 and ID3 Neo. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles models, including the ID Buzz, are also excluded.
