Drivers spend thousands of minutes in their cars, making good ergonomics, clear visibility and intuitive controls essential for reducing fatigue and minimising distractions.

But which cars get their interiors right? Based on feedback from more than 100,000 UK motorists, the latest Driver Power survey reveals the top 10 cars owners rate the highest for the inside of their cars.

1. Hyundai Tucson

Taking the top spot is the Hyundai Tucson. This family car has excellent interior quality, comes with a digital display and large infotainment screen as standard, and has a huge boot. However, it does have awkwardly shaped rear seats, while its suspension feels on the firm side.

Owners were particularly impressed by its interior. One said it’s “very well-equipped and comfortable”, while another described it as “very comfortable, has a clear dashboard and all the usual extras as standard”. Another respondent said they liked “the look and feel of the car”.

2. Vauxhall Grandland

Claiming second place is the Vauxhall Grandland, thanks to its family-friendly interior. There’s plenty of room inside, with generous space across the rear and front seats. Its boot is slightly larger than average for the class, while thoughtful storage solutions, including large compartments and adjustable cup holders, add to its everyday practicality.

Owners are equally positive about the Grandland’s interior. One praised its “comfort, heated seats and steering wheel, its huge boot and its back seats that are really comfortable”. Another said: “The car ticks all the boxes, it’s spacious, comfy and practical, the car as well does look classy with the dark roof and has a good driving position.”

3. Vauxhall Frontera

Rounding out the podium is the Vauxhall Frontera. This SUV has a cavernous interior and is comfortable to drive. However, there’s a lack of storage space in the rear and alternatives are cheaper.

Owners liked the Frontera’s interior, with one Driver Power respondent praising its “overall styling”. Another highlighted its “size and comfort, good luggage capacity, well laid out dashboard and easy to use controls”.

4. MG HS

The MG HS is a practical family SUV with a roomy boot and plenty of space in the back, as well as offering great value for money. That said, its size can make parking in tight spaces more challenging, while some alternatives offer a more premium interior feel and a more refined driving experience.

“I love the build quality,” one respondent said of the MG HS. Another described it as “stylish, responsive, handles the road well, and has lots of driving aids and tech”.

5. Ford Kuga

Up next is the Ford Kuga. This practical family SUV is enjoyable to drive, keenly priced and comes with generous standard equipment. However, some alternatives have plusher interiors, while its boot is smaller than those of key rivals.

That didn’t stop owners from praising the Kuga’s interior in the Driver Power survey, though. One respondent highlighted its “good headroom, comfortable driving height and cabin room”, while another said it was “very comfortable to drive and be in. It has a good sound system and is well specced”.

6. Peugeot 3008

This family SUV was also rated highly for its interior. The Peugeot 3008 has a striking design, efficient hybrid engines and a high-quality cabin. However, we find the rear seats a little cramped, while the infotainment system can be fiddly to use.

Owners were particularly impressed by the 3008’s design, space and comfort. One owner praised its “overall design and space in a car of this size”, while another said it’s “super comfortable for long journeys and very spacious”, adding that “the cockpit is set up in a fab way and is really simple to navigate”.

7. Peugeot 5008

The Peugeot 5008 is a handsome seven-seater that stands out for its practicality. A spacious cabin, sliding middle-row seats and plenty of clever storage make it easy to adapt for passengers or luggage, while a 348-litre boot with all seven seats in place ensures it’s well suited to busy family life.

Owners praised it particularly highly for its interior. One described it as having a “beautiful interior and such a lovely car to drive”, while another called it “very comfortable with plenty of room”. Its versatility was also a highlight, with one owner commenting: “The car is very spacious and still allows for decent storage when all the seats are utilised.”

8. Volvo XC40

Also making the list is the Volvo XC40. This sophisticated SUV is comfortable on the road and offers plenty of space for passengers. However, its interior design is starting to show its age, while the infotainment system can be fiddly to use. Some trims also fall short of expectations.

Despite this, owners rated the XC40 highly for its interior. One respondent praised its “great heated seats along with all its safety features”, while another described it as “excellent, spacious, and comfortable”.

9. Peugeot 308

We think the Peugeot 308 is one of the most eye-catching hatchbacks currently on sale, and it’s impressively comfortable on a long drive. However, its automatic gearbox can feel slightly hesitant, while entry-level versions can get a little pricey.

Owners were impressed by the 308’s overall package, praising its “style, interior, comfortable cabin, great technology and driving position”. Another owner praised its “lovely interior and exterior design”, as well as its “style and comfort”.

10. Tesla Model 3

Finally, we have the Tesla Model 3. This electric saloon is a comfortable choice, with plenty of rear legroom and a spacious, minimalist cabin. Just make sure you opt for the Premium model if comfort is a priority, as it gets a more sophisticated suspension setup than the standard car.

Owners were full of praise for the Model 3, particularly its interior. One owner highlighted its “technology, entertainment system, comfortable seats, full window roof, and overall connectivity”, while another said: “Driving can be fun as well as functional and this shines through in the driving experience and entertainment available. The sound system and security features are brilliant, I feel safe and well cared for by my car.”
